Although the range of performance of the biomarkers established in today’s routine diagnostics is state of the art, it is not always satisfactory. Since only a fraction of all substances circulating in the blood has been studied, we must assume that better alternatives exist to many of the biomarkers in use today. Therefore the goal of our basic research is the identification of such new biomarkers. This research makes use of the most up-to-date biotechnological and bioinformatics methods in international cooperation with well-known research facilities.
